THRIVE: A Camp Hideaway Marriage Retreat is an opportunity for you to make a proactive investment in your marriage. We will be joined by Pastor Joey Ruyter and Stephanie Ruyter, Licensed Processional Counselor - Associate (supervised by Deana Reed, LPC-S #68220). They have been married for 17+ years, and will be bringing both personal and professional experience to invest in the weekend’s couples.

7:30pm - 9:30pm: Session 1 - The Importance of Sabbath in Life & Marriage
The 21st century has couples running sprints, continuously. Before long, we are emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically tired. God created the sabbath to remind us of who He is and our need for Him. This session, we’ll focus on how the gospel impacts a marriage, namely the need for rest and what maintaining this looks like despite the season you’re in.

9:30am: Session 2 - Listening and Communication
You’ve probably heard, “communication is key.” But there are layers upon layers behind communication. Among them, is the art of listening well. Imagine a world where you are heard. What would change if you took ownership on listening well to your spouse? This session will include practicing listening tools for each spouse to learn and grow in their skills.
12pm: Lunch - Hill Country farm to table salads and sandwiches
2pm: Free Time - Explore Property, Enjoy Outdoor Games, Resort Pool, Explore the surrounding area, Time with Mentor Couples

7:30pm: Session 3 - Being Different & Navigating Conflict
“Two become one” is something we read about in scripture, but there are still two different brains, two different hearts, and two different wills at play within a marriage. In this session, how to navigate our differences and communicate in healthy, redemptive ways.

We’ve covered a lot of practical tools for your marriage moving forward. It’s your turn. You will take time individually to contemplate the things you want to own and bring into the growth of the marriage. Then together, you’ll practice communication and listening skills, to create healthy next steps for your marriage. What things do you want to become habits? How might sabbath become a regular part of your family’s life? How can conflict be dealt with in a more redemptive way? By the end, you’ll create a great path forward that will benefit the direction of your marriage as you leave the retreat weekend.
